Lunchtime Walk, 2018-19

As a person with no faith a ritual to me is an everyday, mostly unnoticed or unobserved, action. A morning cup of tea or the commute to work.

A year ago, I promised myself that I would leave the office at lunchtime to get some fresh air and headspace, and to contribute to my overall health. It was easy to do – there is a mile-long circuit which takes in a nature reserve on the edgelands of a city – and it soon became a necessity to complete this mile every weekday, going out rain, sleet, snow or shine.

I started documenting my walk and experience, just taking photos with my phone, and have produced an artist book that encompasses drawing, painting and photography which sits within my wider practice of walking.
